Aura — Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

Aura (“we,” “our,” or “the app”) is a mental-wellness app designed to help you manage anxiety, stress, mood, and sleep. We built Aura to keep your personal information private. This policy explains what the app handles, how, and the choices you have.

1. Information stored on your device

Most of what you create in Aura never leaves your phone. Your journal entries, mood check-ins, breathing sessions, and sleep session history are stored locally on your device using Apple’s CoreData framework. Your name and app preferences are stored in your device’s local settings. We do not have access to this data, and it is removed when you delete the app.

2. Apple Health (optional)

If you choose to connect Apple Health, Aura reads the following data to personalize your experience: step count, heart rate, active energy burned, and sleep analysis. This data is read-only, used only on your device, and is never sold or transmitted to our servers. You can grant or revoke this access at any time in the Apple Health app.

3. AI Wellness Companion

When you use Aura’s AI companion, the messages you send are transmitted over a secure (HTTPS) connection to our server and to our AI provider, Anthropic, so that a response can be generated. This content is processed solely to provide your reply. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, inputs and outputs sent through their API are not used to train their AI models.

Please avoid sharing information that could personally identify you (such as your full legal name, address, contact details, or financial information) in the chat. The AI companion provides general wellness support and is not a substitute for professional medical or mental-health care.

4. Analytics & crash reporting

Aura does not display advertising and does not sell your personal information. To understand how the app is used and to fix problems, we use Google’s Firebase tools: Firebase Analytics collects anonymous, aggregated usage data (for example, which features are opened and how often), and Firebase Crashlytics collects crash and error diagnostics (such as the device model, operating-system version, and the technical state of the app when a crash occurs). This information helps us improve stability and decide what to build next.

This data is tied to a random, app-generated identifier rather than your name, and we do not use it to personally identify you. Your journal entries, mood check-ins, and AI chat messages are never included in analytics or crash reports. Google processes this data on our behalf as a data processor; for more information see Google’s Privacy Policy. The app does not use third-party advertising trackers.

5. Notifications

If you enable reminders, Aura schedules notifications locally on your device (for example, a daily check-in reminder). These are generated on your device and do not transmit personal data to us.

6. How we protect your information

On-device data is protected by your device’s built-in security. Data sent to the AI companion is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Our AI provider’s API key is held only on our server and is never included in the app.

7. Children’s privacy

Aura is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we will address it.

8. Your choices and rights

You can delete individual entries within the app, revoke Apple Health access in the Health app, and remove all locally stored data by deleting the app. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California), including the right to access, correct, or delete personal information. Because Aura stores your wellness data locally on your device, you control most of this data directly. For any request involving data processed through the AI companion, contact us using the details below.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
